Fair Housing Investigator Certification

The National Fair Housing Training Academy and the International Association of Human Rights Agencies (IAOHRA) have partnered to certify a corps of knowledgeable and proficient fair housing professionals. The Certified Fair Housing Investigator (CFHI) professional designation is designed to establish a professional credential for investigators who successfully complete the NFHTA five-week core curriculum, meet specific professional requirements, and pass a comprehensive examination.

Certified Fair Housing Investigator (CFHI) Eligibility

Candidates wishing to take the CFHI examination must satisfy the following requirements and submit an application to IAOHRA:

  • Complete NFHTA's five-week core curriculum (Fair Housing Investigator Courses).
  • Have two years of experience in the fair housing field.
  • Satisfactorily complete five fair housing investigations.
  • Have a letter of recommendation from their supervisor listing their job description and length of service. This must be attached to the application.
